WILD about VBS

We are excited and so very THANKFUL that Northside Baptist Church has chosen us as their missionaries for Vacation Bible School this year. Northside is our HOME church and we are proud to be a part of such a missions-focused church.

Northside Baptist had a sending service for us in September 2018 before we set off on our journey to South America. There were many tears shed that day as we left our friends, family, and our church family. Our family is always encouraged knowing that our Northside family prays for us and the ministry going on in Colombia.

The church has already began collecting socks to send that we can pass out to the Venezuelan caminantes (walkers). So many of them walk from 90 degree weather to 30 degree weather in crocks and flip flops. Even if they are wearing socks, they are wet by the time they get to the coldest point where many encounter frostbite and hypothermia.

Oh! and then there is the change and dollar competition. It is so much fun each afternoon to see who brought in the most money for that day to give to the missionaries. What a blessing to be able to receive the funds this year. Karen has already met with our pastor's wife here, Ms. Ingrid, to share with her that there is an opportunity for our home church to help purchase items for our Colombian church and they are THANKFUL.

Our Colombian church, First Baptist Cucuta, is a strong Biblical church that believes that sharing Christ and growing Christians in their faith is the most important. There is also a mission church in a remote area of Cucuta that Kevin had the opportunity to preach at called Libertad. It just started in February and has about 30 members meeting weekly. Somehow, Kevin was able to weave in the Avengers: End Game to share Biblical truths.

During the week, there are many opportunities for Venezuelans and Colombians to come to the church. They come not just to receive a meal or groceries, but to learn about the Gospel or be encouraged. First Baptist has become a lighthouse to the many Baptists among those that are fleeing Venezuela. They are connecting, sharing and serving.

We are praying that through the giving at VBS this year we can help keep Venezuelan feet warm and also help the local church with the ministry of so many Venezuelans who have made Cucuta their home and First Baptist their place to worship. First Baptist is need of school supplies, a water dispenser, and a closet to keep their items organized and safe. Karen is working to purchase Lifeway Children's books for the classes at First Baptist since they do not have any.

In closing, we first want to invite Indy and surrounding area friends to Northside Baptist Church July 15-19 9:00 am to noon for children ages 4 through Grade 5. It will be life changing.

Then, please also be in prayer for the work God is doing here. Please pray for the Venezuelans who go without food and shelter daily. And pray for our family as we still adapt to life in Colombia, South America.

Finally, if you can, please give to Northside the week of VBS to help bless the lives in Colombia and Venezuela. Donate new socks, change, or dollars.

Thank you again Northside for choosing us as your VBS missionaries for 2019.
